Like everyone else about his relationship, Spencer thought proposing would go seamlessly. He has become accustomed to good luck. For example, since Y/n moved in, he hasn’t broken a glass. Clumsy Spencer Reid had not dropped a single cup in eleven months. No juice or water had been split all over the floor, and he hadn’t had to worry about quickly putting on shoes so he could sweep up.
There are probably other explanations, but he’ll always swear she’s his lucky charm. So he knows the proposal has to be as perfect as she is. The ring, in his biased opinion, is going to look gorgeous on her hand. It’s a big diamond, probably over the top, and worth far more money than she would have liked him to spend, but he can afford it, and there’s no amount in the world he wouldn’t pay to make her smile.
Once he had the ring, he had to determine where to propose, something he was too nervous to think about for three months until an idea struck him on his birthday.
The whole team had been at Rossi’s to celebrate, spending the evening together, and all she could talk about on the way home- along with how much she loved him- was how nice it was to be together as a family. Although she was drunk when she said it, it started the gears in Spencer’s head turning.
